FAQs

What is spray tanning?

Spray tanning is a unique process of applying tanning solution to your body using a high pressure/low volume machine. This type of machine produces less overspray, and is quicker than an airbrush machine. The solution goes on smoothly and evenly with no streaking. The process is different from spray booths, as it is applied by hand to your body by a technician.

What type of solution is used?

The solution that Porcelain & Pink uses is approved by the FDA for cosmetic purposes. The main ingredient is Dihydroxyacetone (DHA), the same ingredient that is used in self-tanners. It is Paraben Free and Cruelty Free.

What do I need to do to prepare for my tan?

Shower, shave, and exfoliate. Do not apply deodorant, lotion, oils, or makeup prior to the tan. Make sure you have loose clothing to wear afterward. It is important to use a water-based exfoliant, as an oil-based exfoliant will interfere with your tan.

What do I need to do after my tan?

Do not shower for 8 hours afterward. Moisturize twice daily, and take warm, as opposed to hot, showers. Contact us for information on tan extending lotions and touch-up mists. If you will be using hot-tubs, swimming pools, or shaving, I highly advise you to use my tan extending products.

How long will my tan last?

Your tan can last up to 10 as long as you take care of your skin and use the recommended products. It is important to take care of your skin. Without maintenance, your tan will last about 5 days.

What do I wear for my tan?

Wear a dark colored bathing suit or underwear. Disposable spa undergarments are available upon request. Women have the option of tanning in the nude, but how much or little you wear is up to your comfort level.

Pregnant or lactating?

The FDA has deemed DHA safe for use topically. However, I do require a written letter from your physician in order to receive tanning treatment. Lactating mothers can be sprayed without a note as long as the nipple area is covered completely. If you have any questions or concerns, please speak with your physician.

Can I spray tan if I have health conditions?

Clients that are diabetic or if you have ever had a negative reaction to any type of self tanning product should consult with your doctor.
